A wonderful and RARE antique children’s book, “My Wife’s Relations: A Story of Pigland" by H.A.H. Illustrated N. Huxley. New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1885. Cloth-backed pictorial boards. Appears to be a First Edition, as there are no other printings and issues available (making these copies quite scarce). Illustrated by N. Huxley, with 25 red colored plates done in great detail. The story describes the daily lives and tribulations of the Grumphrey Trotters and Tobias & Timothy Van Grunter, families of humanized pigs in London.
Condition: Solid binding; the only interior mark is on the first blank page, a Christmas gift in 1897. Some old water marks to first blank page. The frontispiece has been detached but is included (perhaps someone was intending to frame it), but otherwise a solid edition. Please see pictures for details. A very scarce and wonderfully clever children's fairy tale / fantasy book!
