Book by Welsh-American social reformer Robert Dale Owen, who details Spiritualism, including his own beliefs and experiences as well as the history of phenomena and movement. First page bears personal ownership stamp of C.W. Leadbeater, famous occult author and Theosophist. This work is divided into six books by subject, including phases of sleep, hauntings, apparitions, and more, with many more specific subchapters on dreams, hallucinations, death, and other related topics. The book was well read and referenced: it has binding tape to spine, with hand-lettered title; wear to boards; chipping to spine; slight lean; remnants of paste-ins on front endpapers. Interesting pencilled notations to title page, which we wanted to keep because of the provenance of the book.
