Grand folio hardcover (17" x 11" x 4"), with original full leather binding. Gilt text to spine and marbled endpapers. Profusely illustrated with hundreds of engravings and maps throughout. Comprehensive grand folio pulpit edition of the Holy Bible, with annotations and observations included by English Methodist theologian Adam Clarke. Clarke’s commentary is one of the foundational commentaries used in Methodist theology, and is regarded as a primary reference - from the early 1800s to the present day. While many protestant Bible commentaries exist, few possess such an anti-Catholic tone. Clarke's extensive commentary took him four decades to finish.

Firm binding; rubbed corners and edges; rubbing to original leather, with minor wear to boards; boards have been re-attached at some point (as would be expected with such a large tome); bookplate of William Gillet (1820) to inside front board; handwritten family tree to ffep; old water stain present to edges of frontis and title pages, as well as to a handful of pages in the first half and rear; normal toning to pages; interior is otherwise clean and free of markings.
