By William Henry Davenport Adams. The journalist and author W.H. Davenport Adams (1828 – 91) was a popular science writer, translator and lexicographer. Here, he presents the work of alchemists, magicians and astrologers from 14th-century England through to the 16th and 17th centuries. The volume presents historical accounts of witchcraft and records of witch trials. A solid and clean very scarce first edition, with interior hinges cracked, but binding remains firm (boards may have been partially re-attached at some point); rubbed corners and edges; normal aging and wear to boards; interior is clean and free of markings.
